Signs of Fall
Fall has been late this year despite what the calendar says. We were having ninety degree days until a few days ago. However, despite the heat, I put my Halloween decorations up in September because I could not wait anymore.
Mike teased me about decorating so early but I noticed a few other people jumping the gun too. The man who sets up the Woborn Christmas light displayed even got started in September.
Of course, here at the pond the first sign of fall is when Mike organizes his troops to take down the blob and put all the summer pond toys away. First he put Laura and Blackie to work putting all the boats away.
Then they had to make room in Morton Building Number 2 to store the blob by getting rid of the old blob that had many mouse chewed holes in it.
Then one weeknight Heath came, put on his swimsuit and pulled up the anchors to the blob and helped Mike bring it to shore. This was very nice of him to do but he did have a bit of an ulterior motive. He wanted to visit a local sawmill and have them mill some of the logs he had cut and left drying on our property. In fact, he enjoyed talking to the mill owner so much he had to come back a second time to take the blob out of the water.
