Another Visit to Union Station
My brother and his son, Eli, came with us to our next visit to Union Station. Our intent was to visit the Aquarium but it was sold out for the entire day by the time we got there that morning. Fortunately, it was a beautiful sunny day in February and we decided to stand outside and wait to get on the Ferris Wheel.
Not only was the Ferris Wheel ride fun but also educational. There were signs posted around the waiting line telling us about the first ferris wheel in St. Louis. It was an attraction at the 1904 Worlds Fair. They they gave us some fun facts about the Union Square Ferris Wheel that we were about to ride.
Once we completed the Ferris Wheel ride, some of us felt even more adventurous and decided to buy tickets to climb the Rope Course that was constructed inside the building. This course had over 90000 cubic feet of climbing space and 30 obstacles that when climbed took our participants nearly to the top of the train shed. And if that was not enough of a physical challenge there was also a 100 foot long rigid zip line that was about 50 feet over the heads of the people standing below like me and Mike. Our brave adventurers were Laura and Eli.
They were smiling before they left and I have photo evidence below that documents the fact that they had a great time on their adventure.
For those of us who were not so adventurous, Eli and Laura took us to the Mirror Maze and condescended to have lunch in the Train Shed. On our way home, Mike rewarded our adventurer with a trip to stock up on candy at an after Valentine's Day sale at CVS. All in all a very fun day for everyone.
