What happened to 20.76 pounds of strawberries?

As soon as we returned home from strawberry picking at Eckert's, I put 20.76 pounds of fresh strawberries in my brand new but empty refrigerator at the new house.  Then I grabbed my laptop computer, washed a bunch of strawberries and began munching on them while I started looking for recipes that used lots of fresh strawberries.

I made whole wheat strawberry bars (uses 6 cups of sliced strawberries and is delicious) and Emily, with help from Suzanne, made a total of 20 half pint jars of strawberry jam.  One morning Emily even made strawberry smoothies for breakfast.  Heath was appalled when Emily included the strawberry stems in the drink.  However, he did some research and found that the leaves of strawberry plants can aid in digestion.  He was so impressed he made his own strawberry ginger leaf tea.

My research online produced a recipe for strawberry cream cheese bread that used one and a half cups of sliced strawberries per recipe.  I made four batches.

Of course, we had to make strawberry shortcake.  I had purchased a strawberry shortcake mix when we were at Eckert's.  Emily texted her friend Marissa who was due to visit to make sure she liked strawberries.  She said she did so we waited to make strawberry shortcake until she and Eddie arrived.

She said, "I wondered why Emily sent me a text asking me if I liked strawberries."
I can hardly wait for peach season at Eckerts's.  I will start researching the recipes right now.
