Black Friday

Mike and I got up at 5:30 am on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  They were having a Black Friday sale at Menards, our favorite store.  Menards is a huge home improvement store but all the items we ended up buying had nothing to do with home improvement.  Anyway, we got there at 7 am (it is an hour drive to get there) and there was no place to park.  We had to park at a neighboring restaurant that had not yet opened for the day.

We bought two dog beds.  They were $12 each.
One went in the basement for Mabel and one went in the
dog room for Buddy.
We asked Emily which one should go where and she
had to test them out to decide.

We also bought the dogs favorite dog toys.
They are unstuffed stuffed animals with squeakers.
They were $1.50 each.
Here Blackie is playing with the new rabbit.

Then we bought a stand up paddle board.  Emily got up on it first and yes her feet were cold.  She paddled around the pond including the deep end without incident.  Then Laura got up on it.  She paddled around the shore with no problem.  Then they both tried to get up on it.

The paddle board is not designed for two people.  So we had the predictable results.

The paddle board excursion ended with both girls in front of the fireplace trying to get warm again.  Still they are smiling so I guess they enjoyed stand up paddle boarding?!

Suzanne and Laura, in Dallas, saw the pictures.  When Emily pointed out that it wasn't her fault that she and Laura fell in as the paddle board wasn't designed for two people, Laura replied, "Challenge accepted!!!"  And Suzanne said, "Christmas paddle boarding it is."  To find out how this comes out, stay tuned to this blog.

Welcome to the Southern Illinois Stand Up Paddleboard Association. You are our first member who actually owns a board. Would you like to run for SISUPA president?
