Night on the Town

Mike and I went to St. Louis last Friday night. We bought tickets a month ago for the Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith Christmas concert at the Scotttrade Center. It was a great chance to as Amy said, "Be in the moment" and just enjoy this wonderful season. They sang some traditional carols but my favorite part was when they did their own original holiday songs.
Before the concert we made arrangements to meet Laura for dinner somewhere near the Scottrade Center. It was a good thing we did because Hillary Clinton was in town for a
fundraiser and that had a negative impact on traffic. We avoided those problems because we arrived several hours before the concert, parked our car at the Scottrade Center and walked to the restaurant.

City Hall |

On our walk to the restaurant we passed by another St. Louis cake. It was in front of City Hall. So when I got home I Googled the cake and learned more about City Hall. This building has been used as City Hall since 1898. The design was inspired by the City Hall of Paris (France) and it took 14 years to complete. Actually, it was never completed on the outside. Original plans called for carved decorations on the limestone below the ornamental dormers and that is still not done. To be honest, the building looks its age.

Bailey's Range |
The eatery Laura and her restaurant critic, Erin, had chosen was Bailey's Range which is known for its hamburgers and ice cream. It was reasonably priced and very good.
Laura always asks her friend Erin, a St. Louis resident for a few years now, for suggestions on places to eat in St. Louis and she has never steered Laura wrong yet. So while we appreciate Erin choosing this restaurant for us, Mike and I did notice that we were the oldest people in the place. I guess this is what happens when your restaurant critic is in her 20's. Mike wants to know if Erin's mother has been to this place yet?
