The Pacific Ocean

Mike and I spent some time by the ocean last week.  Well, actually we spent time with my family in California but we managed to squeeze in time to view or be on or in the ocean.

We began our week long visit with a hike up in Palos Verdes peninsula.  It was very dry and desert like but there were still ocean views.

The next day all the younger Spilsbury's and all the Peterson's (except Suzanne who had not arrived yet and graciously insisted that we not wait to do this activity until she came), went to Will Roger's State Park.  It is in the Santa Monica mountains in the Pacific Palisades area.  Even Red, the Spilsbury's dog, enjoyed the activity even though he had to be carried part of the way.

The very next day the same group with Suzanne (but without Red) when kayaking on the ocean.  This time we drove to Newport Beach.

Of course, at this point, none of the Peterson's had actually done any swimming in the ocean.  So later in the week, Andy, Sela and Eli joined Laura, Suzanne and Emily near Manhatten Beach for body surfing and sun bathing.

Like that ocean!  However, we were still glad to get home to the pond.
