Yard Work

When we lived in the Woodlands Texas, fall lawn maintenance involved fall fertilizer and mulching the leaves.  Here at the pond it is a different story.

Mike had to borrow a lawn sweeper from his dad.  A lawn sweeper or leaf sweeper has a rotating brush that picks up the leaves and puts them in a hopper for disposal.  Mike attaches it to one of the four wheelers.  Once the sweeper is full he dumps it in the empty bean field.  Once he has about eight loads of leaves he quickly burns them before they can blow away and need to be swept again.  Let's just say he has already done this twice now and he will need to do it again.  This is a big job.

Frankie is also creating yard work.  This is the way I found my front lawn the other morning.  By the time I yelled for Mike the culprit had exited the scene of the crime and missed his photo op.  When I walked out of the front door he had been sitting in the middle of all this carnage.

In case you are wondering what he was chewing let me show you my original front porch fall display and then what I found after the chewing incident.  Note he had started working on the wooden pumpkin on the ground also.  Fortunately my new rooster given to me by Delia May survived unscathed.  The rooster is now off the ground so nothing should happen to it.

Yard work used to be so much simpler.
