Visiting Emily

Mike and I went to visit Emily in Carbondale last Thursday.  Her schedule this semester does not seem as busy as last semester so we asked if we could come by and take her to lunch.  She said yes.
So we grabbed Frankie and headed south.

Frankie's coming also was a pleasant surprise for her.  However, it was not the only one.

While we were out walking Frankie, I got to show off my new coat and hat.  Emily approved.  But that was not the best surprise of the day.

Right about then, Emily looked up and noticed that the red truck in her parking lot that was not the color red she had come to expect.  Yep.  Mike had bought a new truck.

At first, I do not think Emily was that impressed with the new truck.  Basically, Mike had bought an updated version of the truck he already had.  However, this truck has a few more features than the old truck. The first one that Emily noticed was that the back seat was clean.

The back seat is where the dogs and girls ride.  Since the dogs are around more than the girls, they ride in it more often and thus it is usually covered in dog hair.  This truck is new and does not yet have much dog hair but Mike has a plan to keep it from being covered in dog hair.  As soon as he got the truck, he ran out and bought truck mats that cover the entire back floor and velcro'd plastic on to the back of the seats so dog hair does not become embedded on them.  Now before the girls ride in the truck, we will be able to sweep it out and make it look a lot nicer.

Of course, there are other advantages to the new truck.  However, they would be more appreciated by the driver.  Mike has a heated steering wheel and the front seats are heated.  Also, the dashboard talks to Mike.  It will read him his phone text messages and take orders to send text messages.  And that is not all.  The in dash computer can provide the weather, gas prices and movie theaters offerings for the trucks current location.

Of course, Mike explained to Emily that he really bought this truck for me.  My coffee cup no longer gets stuck in the cup holder,  I have gained a heated seat and the ability to control the truck air temperature on my side of the car.  Needless to say, I appreciate his thoughtfulness.
