Marching On

On Saturday, March 25, which happened to be the tenth anniversary of Fitbit, Mike and I were participating in a 5K.

Fitbit promotes exercise by selling pedometers that allow users to track and record their steps, heart rate and more.  Normally I track my steps by walking on the trails around my house but on Saturday Mike and I decided to combine our step tracking with a local good cause.  According to the Fitbit co-founders, users have taken 73,724,731,035,482 steps.  Mike and I contributed a few more on Saturday.

The March for Meals 5k benefited the local Meals on Wheels program.  This program receives some state and local government subsidies but the local center still has to cover two-thirds of the amount needed themselves.  Last year alone, the county Meals on Wheels program delivered 8861 meals.

After the race, Mike and I continued our good works by supporting a local business- the local coffee house.  I had such a good day I am already planning on doing this again next year.
