Morton Building Number 2

Construction has begun on Morton building number 2.

The guys arrived on Monday but we were not ready for them.  The weatherman had predicted rain so we did not think they would come.  By the time we realized they were here, the construction crew had already created the post holes and called the concrete truck.  When it got here, they worked very fast but even so it started to rain before they were quite finished.

The last two post holes were for the horse door.  This door was added in case, at some much later date, we wanted to get a horse- or some other four legged tall animal that could see over the bottom half of a dutch door.

Once it started raining, the construction crew finished pouring the post holes and took off for the rest of the day.  However, they were back the next day bright and early.

By their lunch break, the crew had the walls of the new building laying on the ground.

And by Tuesday's end, we had a building.

Our construction crew began work Wednesday morning knowing they would not be able to work a full day.  The weather forecasts were so bad that the afternoon Cubs (and Cardinal) game in St. Louis had already been cancelled.  They did manage to get some of the red siding on two walls of the building.  If the red looks familiar it should.  This building should have the same coloring as Morton Building Number 1.

Bill has arrived and is staying in the shed apartment in Morton Building Number One.  I wonder if he will be able to sleep through all the construction noise?
