Spring

There is a new season at the pond. Signs of spring are everywhere.

Mike was walking through the timber the other day and found the first mushroom of the year.  It was pretty small.  You will have to look at this picture pretty closely to find it.  I think Mike was more ecstatic about opening mushroom season in March (instead of April) then in the fact he found the first one of the year.  Note:  he found this mushroom on March 31.

We are starting to see buds on the landscape plants in the front yard.  The first and so far only plant to bloom this year was the rhododendron.

We have also been getting a lot of spring showers for these spring flowers.

We are even seeing color in the timber on our walks.

Egg production is at its maximum.  We are having a hard time getting rid of all the eggs.  We have resorted to giving them to Laura to distribute to her friends, coworkers and gym buddies in St. Louis. The gym buddies especially love farm fresh eggs and keep asking for them.

I also know spring is here because I see on the calendar that Mike's brother Bill is due to arrive any day now.  Bill always comes in the spring primarily to mushroom hunt but he also finds time to fish.  Of course, the official reason he comes is to visit family.

All in all, it is shaping up to be a great spring.
