Labor Day Weekend

Laura came to visit us over Labor Day weekend.  We kept pretty busy.  Emily, our normal activities director, would have been proud.

Our local Bradford Bank sponsored some activities over the Labor Day weekend.  Bradford Bank has many distinctions.  It is the 10th oldest bank in the state and the 157th oldest in the nation.  It is one of the few locally owned financial institutions in the area and it had one of the few women bank presidents at the turn of the century.  But the reason for the celebrations this past weekend was for their 150 years of continuous service.

As I already mentioned Laura and I participated in the Color of Money Fun Run which was sponsored by the bank.  That occurred early in the morning.  Later in the afternoon the bank held their actual birthday celebration in their parking lot.  Laura and I dropped in for free Prairie Farms Ice Cream (some of their cows live down the street from Mike and I) and to see what all a bank considered fun.  Besides getting a free fan for our iPhones we also learned about a new game.  There was quite a line waiting to play so we passed.

On Sunday, Laura cleaned her car and then drove me to see 'Cars 3' at the local cinema.  The movie was good but the actual enticement was the all you can eat popcorn.  But after that the weekend got even better because, on Monday, all three of us went shopping in Fairview Heights.  Laura needed shoes, Mike needed shirts and I needed to go to the quilt store.  So we compromised and met at Krispy Kreme donuts before we split up to handle our shopping needs.

Mike and I met back up at Menards.  There we bought solar lights for the gazebo.  All in all a great way to end the summer.

How did Cars 3 only get a sentence of recognition?
