Signs of Fall

It is almost the first day of fall.  I looked it up on Google.  Of course, I knew it was coming because I am attuned to the nuances of the changing of the seasons.

Here are some of my clues.

In September, the gas truck begins propane tank deliveries again.
We use propane when it gets cold to run the gas log in my fireplace and
to heat the shed apartment.

The corn fields turn from green to brown.

And in Woburn, set up of the Christmas Lights Display begins even though it does not
need to be ready until Thanksgiving at 5 pm.
Of course, with over 200 animated characters in
43 large displays acting out various Christmas scenes, the owner needs this much lead time.
Since I drive through Woburn every time I go to town, watching for the
display case set up has become a fall tradition.

The soybean fields turn from green to yellow.

And it is time for our community food packing event.
This year Laura helped our team of 8 pack 3240 rice and bean meals that
will be given to orphans in Haiti.
This year there were 22 teams present in total and over 70000
meals were packed in two hours.

We're lagging behind you here on signs of Fall except the ragweed/goldenrod is out and some of the Bradford Pear trees are starting to turn. In a good year they turn into a collage of all the autumn colors. Last Thanksgiving Laura helped me pick some to write on and use as place cards. We'll miss her this year!
Suzanne & Heath came over last Sunday and showed us the wedding pics. Can't wait to see her final 40 and the video, too. She brought a lemon cheesecake that was absolutely delish (of course)!
She gave me the photos that you all chose from the "Peterson Sisters" shoot and I'm happily working on getting the prints to her soon.
