Emily Arrives

Emily flew into the St. Louis airport at 8:30 pm on Saturday night.  She was now home for Christmas break.  The first twenty-four hours of her visit went exactly like Mike and I expected.  We knew that Emily would keep us busy.  We could not predict everything that she would have us doing but since we have moved to the pond we have learned that when Emily visits things happen.  Not bad things but she does keep everyone moving.  Usually these activities of hers involve her sisters or friends but in their absence she will even get Mike and I involved.

First, though, she made a big fuss over the dogs.  She possibly was more excited about seeing the canines than the humans but that is a subject for another day.

Then before we went to bed on Saturday night, Emily made plans for us on Sunday.  We were all to head to Edwardsville between noon and four pm to get Frankie's pictures taken with the Santa at Pets Mart.  She decided that Gracie could go also because, according to Emily, Gracie was apparently starving for some attention from her humans.

So we fell in with the plan and went to Edwardsville for a very enjoyable and productive afternoon.  With Mike's help, I finished my Christmas shopping.  With my help, Laura finished her Christmas shopping.   And Emily stocked up my pantry with things she will eat.  But, most importantly, we made sure that Frankie got his first picture with Santa.
