A Night to Remember

Mike and I bought tickets to see the Eagles Concert last December.  Mike says Don Henley is the only original member left.  Next in longevity are Timothy Schmidt and Joe Walsh.  All of these members were present.  Vince Gill and Deacon Frey took Glenn Frey's spot.  Mike and I wanted to hear how the band sounded with the two new members and get our third (or is it fourth) but possible last chance to hear them in person.

We decided to avoid the huge crowd and get to St. Louis early and grab some dinner.  Apparently we have a tradition (if an event becomes a tradition after only two times) of having dinner at Bailey's Range before a concert at the Scotttrade Center.  Mike and I parked by the Scottrade Center and used our walking phone app to get to Bailey's Range.

Laura was already waiting for us at the restaurant.  Much to our surprise the place was very busy and we had to wait for our table and had an even longer wait for our orders.  We do not know if most of the people there were going to the concert or not but we noticed on our walk to the restaurant that there were very few restaurants open on Sunday night in this area.

The first time we were at this restaurant we had really felt our age as we were the oldest people there. This time it was not so obvious.  Still we had had a reminder of our 'old' age that evening.  When we paid for our parking over by the Scottrade Center, Mike asked the youth taking our money if he had even heard of the Eagles, he said no.  In fact, he seemed very disgruntled that he was spending his Sunday night working just for an Eagles concert.  Fortunately, when Mike asked our waitress if she had heard of the Eagles, she said yes.  This put him in a good mood again.

After saying goodbye to Laura, we walked eight blocks back to the concert venue.  That's when I learned that our seats were like eight rows from the top of the stadium.  Still we had a pretty unobstructed view of the stage.

The only problem was that when the performers came on stage they were so small I had no idea who was who.  Fortunately after the first song, the large side screens were used for close ups of the performers.  Don Henley mentioned that they brought 14 trucks of equipment and people including 82 backup musicians.  It was a great night.  There were great songs, talented performers and a crowd that happily enjoyed living in the moment enjoying the music.
