Laura Visits
Laura squeezed in a twenty four hour visit this last weekend. We tried to make it worth her while.
First we enticed her with the new furniture in the basement. We wanted her opinion of our new sectional. Did she think that her sisters and brother-in-law would like it? Would they be comfortable if there was a 'Monk' marathon going on in the basement? What about Eli? Would he be comfortable sleeping in the basement with Blackie? She said yes to all our questions.
I also planned a 'Peterson Wine and Food Fest' to rival the 'Eckerts Wine and Food Festival' we went to the last time she visited. She liked it. I served Garlic and Herb cheese curds from Marcoot Creamery and my Baked Zucchini Fries that I had made last summer with my own zucchini and kept frozen for the proper occasion. Along with the wine we bought from Eckerts, I also served homemade fried mushrooms. We had so many morel mushrooms left over from last year's mushroom hunting that I had blanched and frozen some. Mike fried them up in our air fryer. I guess they were popular because we had to make four batches and take some over to Grandma and Grandpa across the street.
However, it is possible the real reason for her visit was her new office furniture. Mike and I had picked up a piece she had selected from Office Max while we were in Edwardsville on Thursday for our monthly stocking session at Sam's. She bought a printer stand that also had drawers and doors to provide paper and notebook storage. She was eager to get it set up in her guest bedroom/office in her apartment so she had to come and get it.
Anyways, whatever the reason, we were glad she fit us into her schedule.
