Coffee Crisis

Mike bought me a new coffee maker to alleviate the first coffee crisis.  My Cafe Latte machine had a cracked glass carafe and the manufacturer no longer makes this machine.  I have had coffee from this machine or one of its predecessors for years.  Even finding parts for it turned out to be difficult and expensive.  Apparently there are people out there who are just as addicted to that machine as I was.

It finally occurred to Mike and I that if the machine was no longer manufactured by Mr. Coffee then Mr. Coffee must have replaced it.  Sure enough they had.  It is called Cafe Barista and advertised to make coffeehouse style drinks at home.  Mike bought it for me as a surprise.

The surprise was kind of ruined when he had to call me when I was in town and tell me to buy espresso.  I did as instructed and hurried home.

When we made a latte with my old coffee pot, the milk and creamer were added to the carafe before  hitting the power button.  The coffee would then drip into the pot while a built in stirrer whipped up the milk.  The new coffeemaker adds steam to the milk and then shots it into the mug while coffee is dripping into it.

We have the finished product set to maximum steam which means maximum foam.  You can see it above the cup.

I tasted it with some trepidation since we are now using espresso instead of regular ground coffee.  It was delicious.  So I can now get rid of the old coffeemaker which brings me to the next crisis.  Where am I going to put the new coffeemaker?  I don't think it will fit on the coffee bar in the kitchen where the old coffeemaker used to sit with two other coffeemakers- Mike's and the Keurig.  It is a bit bigger. This is what happens when you make one change.  It always results in another one.
