We had a full house on the Fourth of July. Not only were Andy, Jonna, Sela and Eli visiting but Suzanne and Heath brought along some Texas friends, Taylor and Kelvin.
I decorated the dinner table for the Fourth of July and with help from our guests, Mike and I prepared a meal of meat kabobs, macaroni and cheese, a red, white and blue fruit salad, deviled eggs, green salad and the traditional Fourth of July desserts, patriotic sugar cookie bars and July 4th in a jar (raspberry pound cake with blueberry sauce and whipped cream).
Before and after the meal, we managed to have a little fun. We played yard games. Over by Morton Building #2, Mike created a horseshoe pit. And in our backyard, games of balloon toss, corn hole and Ker-Plunk were encouraged. Heath built the Ker-Plunk game per Kim's and Eli's request.
Our day concluded with our very own fireworks display courtesy of the Spilsbury's. They had followed every firework sales signs they could find to get us quite the selection. We had colored sparklers and flaming balls and pooping elephants and egg laying hens and dumping dogs and the more traditional fountains, cones and ground spinner flowers. They had worked hard to have something for everyone!
Definitely a memorable Fourth!
