Emily Visits

Emily came to stay with us.  It was a working vacation.  During the week, she would work on her computer but the weekends were family time.

As per our tradition, Mike and Frankie went to pick Emily up at the airport.  Mike was afraid to take Frankie in the jeep with the top down.  He was not sure if Frank might be tempted to jump out.  So they drove with the top up.

The highlight for Frankie was the airport.  Even though it has been seven months since Emily's last visit, he knew the reason he had come.  He was there to find Emily, and even though she had a mask on, he did find her.

Mike had arranged for Emily to work in his office.  However, the temptation was too much for Emily and she started taking her laptop outside.  On Thursday, when Suzanne came, she and Emily ended up on the basement patio.  Suzanne read her book club book and Emily worked on her computer.

My favorite Emily work spot was the gazebo.  She found our card table and moved it outside so she could have a pond view.

By the weekend, Emily was ready for a break.  Heath and Laura joined the rest of us and we took the opportunity to relax.  On Friday, Emily convinced Mike to take the dogs in the jeep with the top off and windows up to train them.  On Saturday, Emily, her sisters, Heath and a few dogs all went paddle boarding.

Of course, we needed food to keep our strength up for all these activities.  Suzanne made a blueberry pie.  We patronized the new bakery in Greenville and bought a welcome home cake for Emily.  We also grilled and made many salads.

I do not know who was more excited for Emily's visit.  Was it her sisters, her parents or the dogs?  Either way, we all were glad to be together.
