Improving the Driveway

It was that time of year again.  We needed to resurface our driveway.  Since last year, the smoothness of the driveway had decreased and we were getting a few pot holes.  Nevertheless, we had been pleased with the oil and rock driveway.  There was no rock dust and we had a much harder surface.
So while the weather was warm, it was the ideal time to call Millers Lime Service to spread rock on our drive and Litchfield Bituminous to add the oil to hold the rock.

Of course, the day we originally scheduled all this activity it rained.  So everything had to be postponed.  But finally, one morning, I looked out my office window and found my drive being oiled.

Then the rock was delivered and added.

The young man with the company that delivered the oil kept asking Mike if he was going to rent a roller to smooth down the surface of our driveway.  He said it is a good thing to do.  When Mike said he had not rented a roller yet, the young man called his boss and had a roller delivered to us.  We ended up having it on site for two days which was fine with Mike.  He enjoyed using it so much that he went ahead and rolled the driveway again on the second day just for fun.  Although I noticed that the second time he did it without holding the coffee cup.  When asked he did say it was a lot easier to run the roller without a coffee cup in his hand.

As a result, our driveway now has a nice smooth hard surface with no pot holes.  It is a pleasure to drive and walk on it once again.
